SI MATA MERAH ENDEMIK JAWA
Merupakan burung endemik Jawa yang tergolong keluarga Cuculidae. Burung ini dapat dikenali dari tubuhnya yang berwarna hitam mengkilap dengan sayap cokelat kemerahan dan mata merah terang. Mereka hidup di ekosistem rawa, hutan mangrove, dan padang rumput dekat perairan, terutama di wilayah Jawa bagian barat. Sebagai pemakan oportunis, mereka memangsa serangga, amfibi, reptil kecil, dan telur burung lain. Bubut Jawa juga terkenal karena suaranya yang khas, berupa rangkaian nada rendah seperti “hoop-hoop” yang sering terdengar di pagi atau sore hari.
THE RED EYES ENDEMIC OF JAVA
It is a bird endemic to Java and belongs to the family Cuculidae. This bird is recognizable by its glossy black body, reddish-brown wings, and striking red eyes. They inhabit wetland ecosystems, mangrove forests, and grasslands near water bodies, particularly in western Java. As opportunistic feeders, they prey on insects, amphibians, small reptiles, and the eggs of other birds. This bird is also renowned for its distinctive call, a series of low-pitched “hoop-hoop” sounds often heard in the early morning or late afternoon.
