Forest Snakehead (Channa lucius) adalah spesies snakehead atau ikan gabus bujuk merupakan ikan dari keluarga Channida. Ikan ini memiliki bentuk memanjang seperti roket. Bagian atas kepala agak cembung, terdapat bintik-bintik besar di sisi tubuh, dan garis diagonal gelap di perut.
Forest Snakehead (Channa lucius) is a species of snakehead or snakehead fish, a fish from the Channida family. This fish has an elongated shape like a rocket. The top of the head is slightly convex, there are large spots on the sides of the body, and a dark diagonal stripe on the belly.
DISTRIBUSI DAN HABITAT | DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
Ikan Gabus Bujuk tersebar di pesisir sungai timur Sumatera Tengah dan Selatan, Kalimantan, dan Jawa. Selain itu, ikan ini juga tersebar di negara Asia Tenggara lainnya yaitu Malaysia dan Laos. Ikan ini hidup di sungai-sungai di hutan dan rawa gambut. Ikan ini lebih menyukai aliran air yang relatif deras.
Forest Snakehead is distributed on the eastern river coasts of Central and South Sumatra, Kalimantan and Java. Apart from that, this fish is also spread in other Southeast Asian countries, namely Malaysia and Laos. This fish lives in rivers in forests and peat swamps. This fish prefers relatively fast water flow.

Ikan Gabus Bujuk dapat bertahan hidup lama tanpa makanan. Mereka mempunyai kemampuan untuk memperlambat metabolisme, ketika kondisi makanan tidak menguntungkan. Mereka dapat bertahan selama berbulan-bulan. Dikarenakan kemampuannya ini, ikan gabus bujuk menjadi pemangsa efisien dalam perairan yang kurang makanan.
Forest Snakehead fish can survive for a long time without food. They have the ability to slow down metabolism, when food conditions are unfavorable. They can last for months. Because of this ability, the forest snakehead fish is an efficient predator in waters lacking food.
STATUS KONSERVASI | CONSERVATION STATUS
Menurut International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, Ikan Gabus Bujuk diklasifikasikan sebagai spesies “Risiko rendah.” Meskipun masih masuk dalam kategori beresiko rendah akan kepunahan, namun ancaman utama untuk populasi ikan gabus bujuk ini sendiri adalah kerusakan habitat dan penangkapan secara besar-besaran.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, the Forest Snakehead is classified as a “Least Concern” species. Even though it is still in the category of low risk of extinction, the main threat to the forest snakehead fish population is habitat destruction and large-scale fishing.
