Hydrolycus scomberoides, better known as the “vampire fish,” is one of the most iconic inhabitants of the Amazon and Orinoco waters. The nickname “vampire fish” was given to it because of its characteristic long fangs that resemble the canines of a vampire, making it one of the most unique and creepy freshwater fish in the world.
