Mastacembelus erythrotaenia, atau lebih dikenal sebagai sili api, adalah spesies ikan yang berasal dari Asia Tenggara. Meski dikenal sebagai eel, spesies ini sebenarnya bukan eel sejati, melainkan ikan yang sangat memanjang dengan moncong yang khas dan mulut yang menjorok ke bawa.
Mastacembelus erythrotaenia, or better known as sili api, is a species of fish originating from Southeast Asia. Although known as an eel, this species is not actually a true eel, but rather a very elongated fish with a distinctive snout and a downward-turning mouth.

Sili api ditemukan di berbagai area yang relatif luas yang mencakup sebagian besar Asia Tenggara dataran rendah, termasuk Thailand tengah dan selatan, Kamboja, Vietnam selatan, Semenanjung Malaysia, Borneo (Brunei, Indonesia dan Malaysia), dan Sumatra (Indonesia). Fire eels are found across a relatively wide area covering much of lowland Southeast Asia, including central and southern Thailand, Cambodia, southern Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia), and Sumatra (Indonesia). They inhabit slow-moving rivers and floodplains, and are usually found in places with muddy bottoms.

As an omnivorous fish, the fire moth feeds on invertebrates (such as insect larvae, worms, and crustaceans), smaller fish, plant matter, and detritus.
